STATEMENT
My work is an exploration of the changing relationship between organic and artificial spaces. I find inspiration from the places I have lived and draw from experiences with both sprawling suburban towns and dense city environments. Moving between materials allows me to shift my perspective on a particular theme and discover additional layers of information. I'm often drawn to the relationships between spaces, voids, air, the underground, light and shadow.
I am currently alternating between paper and wood, materials very different in density, tension, and flexibility. There's a unique bond between the two, similar to a relationship between parent and child. The two paired together speak to me about the relationships between nature and human history.
Works in progress: current paper sculptures series & artwork for a children's book series.
